Ryden Excavations of Kulamarka

Ch’auch’a de Kulla Marka

Previous

Introduction

Two of the structures were circular and two were rectangular in plan (Figures 5-6). He also noted the remains of a stone chamber, a second 'effaced' dwelling site near the east edge of the formation, and the remains of a Colonial chapel. Although he recorded dense concentrations of Inca style ceramics on the surface of the Kula Marka, he interpreted the structural remains as dating to the Early Colonial period.

Fig 6. A rectangular plan structure and it's central hearth. Ryden attributed this structure to the early Spanish Colonial period.
